How do you clean a pot without damaging the patina? Today, I'll teach you a practical little trick.
Cleaning Trick for Pots
1. Take one spoon of edible pure alkali (baking soda) and put it into the pot, then pour in boiling Water at 100 degrees Celsius. Fill the pot with water and cover it with the lid.
2. Wait for about ten minutes, then gently brush the inside of the pot with a soft-bristled brush. You will see the tea scale turn into yellow water flowing out, and the cleaned pot will shine like new. If the first cleaning does not feel thorough enough, you can soak it for a bit longer and brush it again, but be sure to choose a brush with soft bristles to avoid damaging the pot.
Note: To avoid damaging the patina, when soaking the pot in water, do so as if you were Steeping tea, keeping the alkali water inside the pot only. Do not soak the entire pot in a large container filled with alkali water, as this could easily remove the oily substances on the outside of the pot, thus losing the patina's appearance.
